Cat people,

Any opinions on flushable cat litter? Arm & Hammer (I think) makes
it.

I LOVE the flushable Litter. I keep Prego's box in the bathroom. It's so
easy to just scoop it straight into the toilet and I've never had any
trouble flushing it down. I use the Arm and Hammer Easy Flush. Before I
had this I used Super Scoop, but to keep the bathroom from getting smelly, I
would put the dirty clumps into a bag and take it straight to the big
garbage can in the garage. It's nice not to have to mess with that. Also
the litter is pleasantly scented, which Prego doesn't seem to mind a bit.
However, I think I may be allergic to the dust, but that's only an issue
when I'm adding litter to the box.

I have never used clumping litter, I heard it can be dangerous when
the cats ingest the dust over a long period of time. I use cat box
liners and throw the whole thing out every day or two (I have 4 cats).
But then again I hate cat litter and deal with it as little as
possible.

Huh? Do you have an research cites for that? It's the first I've
ever heard of that little tidbit.

Don't trust the "a friend said" or "I read on the 'net" anecdotal
evidence. Trust research you can confirm

I switched to clumping litter about five months ago. After almost 14
years of regular litter I'm not going back to it. I love the clumping
litter. Oh, and I've not noticed a dust problem, but don't quote me -
that's just anectdotal evidence!

Here is an article about it http://www.catmom.com/marina/articles/clump.html

but there seems to be plenty who say it is Phooey. I would rather not take
the chance.

Thanks, but this article is exactly what I was referring to when I
talk about anecdotal evidence. Look at all the "I thoughts" and "it
may cause..." and "my vet heard..." type of statements here. Not one
real shred of scientific evidence.

Of course you should do what you feel is best for your cats.
Personally I love clumping litter, and it doesn't just have to be of
the clay variety. There are non-clay clumping litters.
